Ideally I would test if the character cylinder can fit at each voxel, but that is really slow in practice. Eroding the walkable area edges by agent readius is sort of approximation of trying to fit the character cylinder at each voxel location.

The gap situatio you explained will be handled as you feared. Although, I disgaree with you expectation there :)Mikko Mononenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11900996590678707801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1272803659321539598.post-29686518851646064252010-01-29T07:05:43.316-08:002010-01-29T07:05:43.316-08:00Hey Mikko!
Don't get me wrong but the "fi...Hey Mikko!
Don't get me wrong but the "fixes" you've implemented so far are in my opinion a bit to dirty. Thinking of a correct result i would expect that the filtering is done in some relation with the agent-radius. Currently i don't have a working setup of recast here but i think if the problem you've described exitsts, there is also a problem when you have two planes with a little gap in between and you have a voxel-size which is smaller than that gap. I would expect a navmesh where the gap is nonexistent because the agent-radius is to big to fall into it. I don't know if it is somehow possible (for performance resons) to check enough neighbors to get a check of the complete agent-radius but i think that would be a much cleaner solution which should solve that problem to?!
Maybe i have understood something wrong. I hope my description is more or less clear.

PS:
Don't get me wrong but i like it when you are ill. It's just nice to read your blog =)YAYhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04242291781994146761noreply@blogger.com
